Imagine…

You left your home, your loved ones, your city, and the comforts of a normal life. After a long journey full of dangers and epic adventures, you land in a beautiful place unlike anything you’ve ever imagined filled with exotic people as curious about you as you are about them. This is what happened a thousand times in the history of the world to brave men and women who embarked on the most challenging of expeditions, which often exceeded the technical capabilities of the time. Their purposes may have been to open new roads to trade; to discover new sources of the most sought-after goods; to reach fabulous distant places; to spread a religion; or more simply, to assuage that desire for knowledge and adventure that pushes some to do what no one has attempted before.

Thanks to those intrepid souls, it has been possible over the centuries to map every corner of the world down to the smallest details, an accomplishment that ancient explorers attempted in vain and that was only the stuff of imagination in the Middle Ages.
